And perhaps the biggest BIG news is that the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council has selected the 2011 Great Northern Irish Pipers’ Club Tionol to be a recipient of a 2011 Community Arts Grant award. We as a club are humbled by this honor and are looking forward to making this 10th tionol a real humdinger. Details to follow as soon as we have worked out the nitty gritty in January.

After the great turn-out and success of the April Open Mic Fund-raising event for the GNIPC, we decided it would be great to have a non-fundraiser Open Mic Night on a semi-regular basis, as a way to provide the opportunity to local performers to show off their skills! GNIPC has teamed up with the IMDA to make this happen.

Join us August 13th, 14th and 15th for the annual Irish Fair on Harriet Island. Once again, we’ll be setting up shop at Keegan’s Pub Traditional Music Tent. We’re bringing up young piper extraordinaire Joey Abarta and will have other surprise guests on hand. This is always a fun weekend for the whole family and the Piper’s Tent is a wonderful place to escape the crowds and enjoy some traditional music. We hope to see you there!
